Halo

Kimchi & Chips

A&E delivered technical production and engineering for Kimchi & Chips new piece Halo @ Somerset House in 2018. This was it’s first showing and involved in intensive 2 week install. A&E worked closely with Kimchi & Chips and the Somerset House team to work out the best way of installing, calibrating and finessing the piece in this grand location.

Halo uses 99 robotic mirrors and a complex mathematical simulation to track the suns rays and reflect them into a cloud of mist - creating an etherial volumetric projection of a Halo.

Engineering challenges involved, pumping high pressure water, mirror calibration and software control of a large number of servo’s.
